🌿 God’s Provision in the Garden: Healing Herbs of Spring
Discover how purple dead nettle and mullein reflect God’s design for natural healing and restoration
There is something sacred about stepping outside in early spring. What once looked barren begins to soften, to green, to come back to life. The earth is waking up, and when we slow down enough, we begin to notice something deeper.
God is already providing.
Not in complicated ways, but in simple, accessible gifts growing right at our feet.
🌿 “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it…” — Psalm 24:1
🌱 What We Often Miss
For a long time, I rushed past what I now stop to gather. Plants I would have once pulled or ignored without a second thought have become things I now harvest with intention and gratitude.
What changed was not the land. It was my awareness.
Spring has become an invitation to look again. To see His design, His provision, and His care in ways I had not noticed before. When we slow down, what once seemed ordinary begins to reveal purpose.
🌿 Purple Dead Nettle: A Natural Antihistamine in Your Backyard
Purple dead nettle is one of the first herbs I reach for each spring. It grows freely and abundantly, often in places we overlook or dismiss. Yet this small plant offers meaningful support for the body, especially during allergy season.
It is known for its natural antihistamine properties, anti-inflammatory benefits, and nutrient content. What once felt like a weed has become something I intentionally gather and use.
Each time I harvest it, I am reminded that God’s provision is present, even when it is overlooked.
🌿 Mullein: Support for Respiratory Health
Mullein is another plant that shows up faithfully each year. Its soft leaves draw your attention and invite you to pause and notice what is growing.
Traditionally, mullein has been used to support respiratory health, soothe inflammation, and aid the body. Its strength is found in steady, consistent support.
This reflects how God often works within us. Not through pressure, but through steady restoration over time.
🌱 Healing Herbs in Spring: A Return to What God Designed
This is not about striving to do everything perfectly or changing everything at once. It is about returning to awareness and learning to notice what has always been there.
God designed this world with intention. Within that design are things that nourish, support, and restore our bodies. When we begin to see that, it changes how we move through the world.
We slow down.
We pay attention.
We begin to trust His provision.
🌿 What Are You Finding This Spring?
One of the most meaningful parts of this journey is realizing that we are not walking it alone. Many of us are beginning to notice again, to gather again, and to return to what God has already provided.
I would love to hear from you.
What is something you forage for in the spring to support your health?
Whether it is something familiar or something new you are learning, your experience may encourage someone else to look closer and discover what has been there all along.

🌿 An Invitation to Notice
This spring, I am learning not to rush past what God has already provided, but to look closer and gather with gratitude.
Sometimes we believe we need to search far and wide for what we need. Often, it is already within reach, placed there with intention.
The first step in restoration is often simply seeing what has been there all along.
🌿 Continue the Journey: Planted & Restored

As I peak out the window, I see snow falling again. It will only last for a few minutes, as winter is not quite ready to let go for the year. I am seeing stinging nettle and cleavers popping their heads in my garden. The dead nettle is one of my favorites too. It usually shows up in May in my area.
These plants don't grow in our (small) backyard in NE Florida, but I definitely have allergies. So what do you do with these after gathering them? Make it into a tea? Thanks!
