Preparing for the Messiah - Day 40
The Love of God Made Visible
1 John 4:9 (KJV)
“In this was manifested the love of God toward us,
because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world,
that we might live through him.”
Introduction
We’ve walked through prophecy,
through Bethlehem,
through promises,
through the coming of the Savior,
through His humility, light, and grace.
And now, at the close of these 40 days,
John brings us back to the heartbeat of it all:
God’s love —
made visible,
made personal,
made undeniable —
in Jesus Christ.
Christmas is not just the story of a birth.
It is the story of love made manifest.
Love that took on flesh.
Love that entered our world.
Love that came so we could truly live.
Reflection
“In this was manifested the love of God…”
Manifested means to make known,
to reveal,
to bring into the light
what could not be seen clearly before.
Jesus is the manifestation of God’s love —
the proof,
the picture,
the expression of what God has always felt toward His people.
God didn’t merely speak His love.
He showed it.
He clothed it in humanity.
He wrapped it in swaddling clothes.
He carried it all the way to the cross.
“Because that God sent His only begotten Son…”
The Father did not send an associate,
or an emissary,
or a representative.
He sent His Son.
The One closest to His heart.
The One eternally united with Him.
The One who reflects His glory perfectly.
This is why Christmas is the greatest love story ever told.
“Into the world…”
Not around it.
Not above it.
Not near it.
Into it.
Into our darkness,
struggle,
brokenness,
confusion,
need,
and longing.
Jesus came into the world
so He could come into our hearts.
“That we might live through Him.”
This is the purpose of His coming:
Not that we survive,
or strive,
or do better,
or try harder.
But that we live —
through Him,
because of Him,
in Him.
His life becomes our life.
His love becomes our anchor.
His presence becomes our strength.
His Spirit becomes our breath.
Today, reflect on this:
Where do you long for deeper life?
Where do you feel spiritually tired or empty?
Where do you need to remember that
true life begins, grows, and thrives through Jesus?
You are loved more deeply than you can comprehend.
And that love has a name:
Jesus.
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for making the love of God visible, tangible, and undeniable.
Thank You for coming into this world
so that I might truly live through You.
Let Your love fill every corner of my heart.
Renew me, sustain me,
and teach me to live each day rooted in Your life.
Amen.
