Preparing for the Messiah - Day 38
In the Fullness of Time
Galatians 4:4–5 (KJV)
“But when the fulness of the time was come,
God sent forth his Son,
made of a woman,
made under the law,
To redeem them that were under the law,
that we might receive the adoption of sons.”
Introduction
Paul lifts our eyes from Bethlehem
to the wider, deeper plan of God.
Jesus didn’t arrive randomly.
He didn’t appear early.
He didn’t come late.
He stepped into humanity
“when the fulness of the time was come.”
At the exact moment God ordained,
in the exact conditions God prepared,
according to the exact plan God designed—
the Father sent His Son.
Christmas is not just a sweet story.
It is a strategic rescue.
A divine claim.
A miraculous adoption.
Reflection
“When the fulness of the time was come…”
God’s timing is never accidental.
He sees all of history at once,
and He knew the perfect moment
to send Jesus into the world.
Jesus came when the world was spiritually hungry,
politically connected,
and prophetically prepared.
God never rushes,
and He never delays.
His timing is always full—
complete, perfect, intentional.
“God sent forth His Son…”
Not a messenger.
Not an angel.
Not a prophet.
His Son.
The greatest gift heaven could give,
offered freely
to a world that could never earn Him.
“Made of a woman…”
Jesus became fully human
so He could fully identify with us.
He entered our world,
our limitations,
our struggles,
our vulnerability.
He became like us
so we could become His.
“Made under the law…”
Jesus came under the weight
we could never carry.
He lived perfectly under God’s law
so He could redeem those
who fell short—and that’s all of us.
“To redeem them…”
Redemption means to buy back,
to reclaim,
to rescue from bondage,
to restore what was lost.
Jesus didn’t come primarily to teach—
He came to redeem.
“That we might receive the adoption of sons.”
This is the miracle of Christmas:
We are not just forgiven.
We are not just rescued.
We are adopted.
God doesn’t simply save us from something—
He brings us into something:
His own family.
You are wanted.
Chosen.
Welcomed.
Loved.
Adopted with full rights
and full belonging.
Today, reflect on this:
Where do I need to trust God’s timing?
Do I believe He sent Jesus for me personally?
Do I live like a dearly loved child…
or like someone trying to earn a place in the family?
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for coming in the fullness of time.
Thank You for redeeming me
and bringing me into the family of God.
Help me trust Your timing in my own life
and rest in the truth that I am fully loved,
fully wanted,
and fully Yours.
Amen.
Journal Prompt
Where in your life do you struggle to trust God’s timing?
What does it mean to you personally that Jesus redeemed you?
How does knowing you are adopted as God’s child shape your identity?
