Preparing for the Messiah - Day 35
For God So Loved the World
John 3:16–17 (KJV)
“For God so loved the world,
that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved.”
Introduction
These verses are the heartbeat of the gospel.
So familiar, yet so profound.
So often quoted, yet never exhausted.
At the center of everything God has done
—creation, covenant, prophecy, Bethlehem, Calvary, the empty tomb—
there is one single driving force:
Love.
Not distant love.
Not passive love.
Not vague or abstract love.
But love so deep,
so intentional,
so sacrificial,
that God gave.
He didn’t send an angel.
He didn’t send instructions.
He sent His Son.
Reflection
“For God so loved the world…”
Not an idea.
Not a system.
Not a select group of worthy people.
The world.
Everyone.
Every nation.
Every heart.
Every sinner.
Every wanderer.
Every person aching for hope.
This is not small love.
It is immeasurable, unstoppable, unconditional love.
“That He gave His only begotten Son…”
Love gives.
Love sacrifices.
Love moves toward the one who is lost.
Love doesn’t wait for perfection —
it enters the brokenness.
Jesus is the ultimate gift:
God’s love wrapped in flesh,
born in humility,
crucified in mercy,
raised in victory.
“That whosoever believeth in Him…”
Whosoever.
No exclusions.
No prerequisites.
No background checks.
No earning.
No proving.
Just believing.
“Should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Jesus didn’t come to improve your life —
He came to save it.
Not to offer temporary comfort,
but eternal life rooted in Him.
“For God sent not His Son to condemn the world…”
If you ever feel condemned,
shamed,
unworthy,
or too far gone—
hear this clearly:
Jesus didn’t come to condemn you.
He came to rescue you.
“But that the world through Him might be saved.”
Salvation is the beating heart of Christmas.
This is why He came.
This is why the manger matters.
This is why the cross matters.
This is why His resurrection matters.
Because love moved God toward us.
Today, reflect on this:
Where do I struggle to believe God loves me this much?
Where do I still feel condemned when Jesus came to save?
Where is He inviting me to rest in His love more deeply?
This is the gospel in one breath:
God loved.
God gave.
We believe.
We live.
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for the overwhelming love that brought You to earth.
Thank You for coming not to condemn me,
but to save me,
heal me,
and give me everlasting life.
Help me receive Your love today with open hands and open heart.
Let Your truth quiet every voice of shame,
and let Your grace draw me closer to You.
Amen.
