Preparing for the Messiah - Day 32
The Word Became Flesh
John 1:14 (KJV)
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,
(and we beheld his glory,
the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,)
full of grace and truth.”
Introduction
This single verse holds one of the greatest mysteries
and greatest miracles
in all of Scripture:
“The Word was made flesh.”
The eternal God
stepped into human skin.
The One who spoke creation into being
entered the world as a baby.
The Infinite became an infant.
The Almighty became approachable.
The Creator became close enough to touch.
He dwelt among us.
Not above us.
Not at a distance.
But with us —
in our world,
in our limitations,
in our sorrows,
in our ordinary days.
This is the heart of Christmas:
God choosing to be near.
Reflection
“We beheld His glory…”
Those who walked with Jesus
did not see a distant deity
or a cold ruler.
They saw glory wrapped in gentleness,
holiness wrapped in compassion,
majesty wrapped in humility.
They saw:
glory in His miracles,
glory in His teachings,
glory in His compassion,
glory in His obedience,
glory in His sacrifice.
Every step Jesus took
revealed the Father’s heart.
“The glory as of the only begotten of the Father…”
There is no one like Jesus.
No one else carries the fullness of God.
No one else reflects the Father so perfectly.
No one else possesses divine glory
and perfect humility
in the same breath.
Jesus is not merely a messenger of God —
He is God revealed.
“Full of grace and truth.”
Not one or the other.
Both.
Perfectly.
Grace — the kindness that welcomes us home.
Truth — the clarity that sets us free.
Grace without truth leaves us unchanged.
Truth without grace leaves us discouraged.
Jesus brings both in perfect measure.
Where do you need His grace today?
Where do you need His truth?
Where do you need to let His presence become personal —
where the Word becomes flesh
in your own life and heart?
Jesus didn’t come only to walk among humanity—
He came to dwell within you.
To be present in your ordinary,
your struggles,
your hopes,
your healing,
your story.
The Word became flesh…
so you could know God’s heart personally.
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for becoming flesh and dwelling among us.
Thank You for drawing near in love,
for revealing the Father,
and for being full of grace and truth.
Help me welcome You into every part of my life.
Let Your presence shape my thoughts,
your truth guide my steps,
and Your grace steady my heart.
Amen.
Journal Prompt
What does it mean to you personally that God became flesh?
Where do you need Jesus’ grace right now?
Where do you need His truth to speak into your life?
How can you welcome His presence into your ordinary moments today?
