Preparing for the Messiah - Day 3
A Prophet Like Unto Me
Deuteronomy 18:15 (KJV)
“The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken.”
Introduction
When Moses spoke these words, Israel was standing on the edge of promise — a people who had seen miracles, discipline, guidance, and grace. Yet even after all they had experienced, God knew they still needed something more:
a voice that would speak His heart with perfect clarity.
This wasn’t just a promise of another leader.
It was a promise of the Leader — One who would reveal God not through stone tablets or distant thunder, but through His very presence.
Reflection
Deuteronomy 18:15 points directly to Jesus — the long-awaited Prophet who would speak with divine authority, teach with heavenly wisdom, and call God’s people back to truth.
Moses had interceded for Israel.
Jesus would intercede for the world.
Moses led them out of bondage.
Jesus would lead us out of sin.
Moses delivered the law.
Jesus would fulfill it.
And because of this, Moses spoke a simple and powerful instruction:
“…unto Him ye shall hearken.”
Listen to Him.
In a season that grows noisier by the day — with decisions to make, emotions to manage, and voices competing for our attention — this verse invites us back to the simplicity of the shepherd’s sheep:
Hear His voice. Follow Him. Trust His leading.
Jesus does not speak confusion.
He does not lead with fear.
He does not push or pressure.
He guides.
He whispers peace.
He calls us closer.
Today, consider what Jesus may be saying to you — not the world, not your worries, not your to-do list — you.
What invitation is He offering?
What comfort is He giving?
What guidance is becoming clear when you quiet your heart long enough to listen?
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
You are the promised Prophet — the One who reveals the very heart of the Father.
Quiet my thoughts today so I may hear Your voice above all others.
Teach me, guide me, and help me follow Your leading with confidence and peace.
Amen.
Journal Prompt
Where in your life do you most need to hear Jesus’ voice clearly right now?
What distractions or fears tend to drown out His guidance?
What step of obedience might He be inviting you to take next?

In listening to Him, I have been led to move beyond the comfort of the classroom, the comfort of the pew at church, to share His Word with anyone who will hear.
A year ago, I was sheepishly attending Church, when I had the strength and energy. Afraid of judgment & condemnation. But Jesus reassured me that I was stepping into His will. And you know what? I was met with love and grace. It’s a love everyone should experience.
If you don’t have a church family yet, I encourage you to find one. Be brave. God has you covered in His love and mercy, and His Church is an extension of that.
