Preparing for the Messiah - Day 27
Making Him Known
Luke 2:17–18 (KJV)
“And when they had seen it,
they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
And all they that heard it wondered at those things
which were told them by the shepherds.”
Introduction
After the shepherds saw Jesus with their own eyes,
something changed in them.
They didn’t go back to their fields quietly.
They didn’t keep the experience to themselves.
They didn’t tuck it away like a private moment.
They shared it.
What began in the stillness of a manger
overflowed into joyful proclamation.
The first evangelists after Jesus’ birth
weren’t priests or prophets—
they were shepherds.

Reflection
“They made known abroad…”
Their encounter with Jesus produced a response:
testimony.
The shepherds didn’t need training.
They didn’t prepare speeches.
They didn’t worry about saying it perfectly.
They simply shared what they had seen,
what they had heard,
and what God had revealed to them.
This is the essence of sharing Christ:
You tell how He met you.
You tell what He spoke to your heart.
You tell what He has done.
“And all they that heard it wondered…”
Their words stirred wonder.
Not because the shepherds were eloquent,
but because the message was powerful.
Your story—your encounter with Jesus—
has the same potential.
When you speak of His faithfulness,
others are encouraged.
When you share His goodness,
hearts are softened.
When you testify of His presence,
others begin to seek Him.
You don’t need to have everything figured out
to point others toward Jesus.
You simply need to tell your story
from a place of joy and honesty.
Like the shepherds,
you don’t have to be impressive—
just willing.
Today, ask yourself:
What has God shown me recently
that I could share to bless someone else?
Even a simple word
can spark wonder in another heart.
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Give me the courage and joy of the shepherds—
to share what You have done in my life
with humility, boldness, and love.
Let my words point others to You.
Fill my heart with such wonder
that I cannot help but make You known.
Amen.
Journal Prompt
What has God done recently that fills your heart with joy or gratitude?
Who might be encouraged if you shared even a small part of your testimony?
When you think about telling others what Jesus means to you, how does your heart respond?
