Preparing for the Messiah - Day 26
Glory to God in the Highest
Luke 2:13–14 (KJV)
“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
Introduction
One angel began the announcement of Jesus’ birth…
but heaven could not stay silent.
Suddenly — instantly —
the sky filled with a multitude of the heavenly host.
An army of angels, not coming for battle,
but for worship.
The birth of Jesus was not a quiet event in heaven.
It was a moment that moved the angels to praise:
“Glory to God in the highest…”
This is heaven’s response to the coming of Christ.
Not fear.
Not confusion.
Not questions.
But glory.
Because the Savior had come.
Reflection
“Glory to God in the highest…”
At the very moment Jesus entered the world,
heaven celebrated.
And their first response teaches us how to respond too:
Look up. Give glory. Praise God for what He has done.
Even when life feels ordinary,
even when the night feels long,
even when uncertainties linger —
God is worthy of glory.
The angels then declare the result of Jesus’ coming:
1. Peace on earth.
Not the world’s version of peace,
which shifts and breaks,
but the deep, soul-settling peace
that comes from God’s presence.
2. Good will toward men.
Jesus is God’s kindness made visible.
His mercy walking among us.
His love drawing near.
The angels saw clearly what we sometimes forget:
Jesus is the expression of God’s goodness toward us.
And notice this:
Heaven’s praise came before the shepherds saw Jesus.
Before the world understood Him.
Before the cross, the resurrection, or the miracles.
They praised simply because He had come.
Today, pause and join heaven’s song.
Let your heart whisper… or shout…
Glory to God in the highest.
Peace to my soul.
Good will toward me because of Jesus.
Heaven rejoices.
And you are invited to rejoice too.
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Glory to God in the highest!
Thank You for coming to bring peace, hope, and the goodness of God to earth.
Fill my heart with worship today.
Lift my eyes toward You,
and let Your peace rest on me in every place I need it.
Amen.
