Preparing for the Messiah - Day 13
Your Prayer Is Heard
Luke 1:13 (KJV)
“But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.”
Introduction
After years—decades—of praying, hoping, and likely grieving, Zacharias finally hears the words every waiting heart longs for:
“Thy prayer is heard.”
This moment wasn’t sudden for God,
even though it felt sudden to Zacharias.
God had been holding their prayer,
honoring it,
shaping it into His perfect timing.
Luke 1:13 reminds us of something profoundly comforting:
God hears before He answers.
He remembers before He reveals.
He prepares before He provides.
Reflection
“Fear not… thy prayer is heard.”
Those words touch places in us we often keep hidden—
the prayers we whisper,
the ones we’ve repeated for years,
the ones we’ve almost stopped believing in,
the ones soaked in longing, tears, or resignation.
Some prayers feel like they disappear into silence.
But heaven is always listening.
God had not forgotten Zacharias.
He had not overlooked Elisabeth.
He had not ignored their longing.
He simply chose a moment where the answer would
not only bless them
but also prepare the way for Jesus Himself.
Sometimes God delays because the answer He’s preparing is bigger than we imagine.
Sometimes He waits because
He is aligning lives,
fulfilling prophecy,
and weaving together a plan that requires time.
And sometimes—like Zacharias—
God answers long after we’ve quit expecting anything to change.
But His faithfulness never fades.
Today, consider the prayers you’ve tucked away…
the ones you barely speak anymore…
the ones that feel too old or too improbable.
Heaven still hears.
Heaven still remembers.
Heaven is still working.
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for hearing every prayer—spoken and unspoken, old and new.
Strengthen my heart to trust Your timing,
even when I don’t see movement yet.
Help me believe that no prayer is forgotten in Your presence
and that Your answers always come wrapped in purpose and love.
Amen.
