How to Build the Habit of Reading Your Bible Daily (Without Overwhelm)
Week 1: Start Small — Faithfulness Over Perfection
There’s a quiet pressure many of us feel when it comes to reading our Bible.
We think it has to look a certain way.
A certain length of time.
A certain level of depth.
And when we can’t meet that expectation, we often stop before we begin.
But Scripture reminds us otherwise.
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.” — Zechariah 4:10 NLT
Small Is Not Weak
Small is faithful.
Five minutes with God, offered consistently, is far more powerful than an hour attempted once and abandoned. Faithfulness is not measured by how much we read—but by how often we return.
If all you have today is a few quiet moments, that is enough.
Release the Pressure
This week, I want to invite you to let go of the idea that Bible reading must be impressive to be meaningful.
You don’t need:
A perfect routine
A lengthy reading plan
A beautifully written reflection
You need willingness.
God meets us in our offering, not our output.
A Simple Practice for This Week
Set a 5-minute timer.
Read a short passage—perhaps a Psalm, a few verses from the Gospels, or even one paragraph.
When the timer ends, stop.
Not because you must—but because you are teaching yourself that returning tomorrow matters more than doing more today.
A Gentle Question to Reflect On
Where have I been holding myself to a standard God never asked of me?
Be honest. There is no right answer—only space for truth.
Closing Prayer
Lord,
Help me honor small beginnings.
Teach me to return to You faithfully, without pressure or comparison.
Meet me here—in what I can offer today.
Amen.
🌿 This week’s reminder:
Faithfulness grows one small yes at a time.
