How to Build the Habit of Reading Your Bible Daily (Without Overwhelm)
Week 6: Grace for Missed Days — Begin Again
If you’ve been following along this series, there’s something important to say out loud:
There will be days you miss.
Days when the Bible stays closed.
Days when life feels heavy or rushed.
Days when the habit you hoped to build feels far away.
And yet—this is not failure.
“Though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again.” — Proverbs 24:16
God Is Not Measuring Missed Days
We often measure ourselves by streaks—how many days in a row we showed up.
But God measures faithfulness differently.
He looks at the heart that returns.
Grace means you are never starting over from nothing. Every day you’ve shown up has already mattered. Nothing has been wasted.
Begin Again, Gently
The temptation after a missed day is to quit entirely or wait until “next week” or “next month.”
But Scripture invites us to begin again today.
Not by making up for what was missed.
Not by reading more to compensate.
But by opening the Word right where you are.
A Simple Practice for This Week
If you’ve missed a day—or several—do this:
Open your Bible.
Read a few verses.
Offer a simple prayer:
“Lord, thank You for welcoming me back.”
Then stop.
Returning is enough.
A Gentle Question to Reflect On
How do I speak to myself when I miss a day with God—and what would grace sound like instead?
Let compassion lead your reflection.
Closing Prayer
Lord,
Thank You that Your mercy is new each morning.
Teach me to return without guilt and remain without pressure.
Help me trust that You are always ready to meet me again.
Amen.
