Honoring the Body God Designed: A Biblical Path to Restoration
Applying God’s Word to Our Physical Wellbeing
God Already Gave Us Instructions
I spent a long time searching for answers about my health—reading articles, trying new approaches, and telling myself I just needed to do better or try harder. I assumed that if I could just find the right solution, things would finally fall into place.
What I eventually realized is this: God had already spoken.
That realization matters deeply right now. Many Christian women are overwhelmed—not just by life, but by the noise surrounding health and wellness. We’re trying to honor God, care for our families, serve faithfully, and still keep our bodies going. Too often, we separate our faith from our physical wellbeing, as if Scripture has nothing to say about it.
But it does.
This month, our focus is Restored: Honoring the Body God Designed, rooted in this truth from Scripture:
“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
— 1 Corinthians 6:19–20
God cares about your health and wellbeing so much that He gave us instructions in His Word—not to burden us, but to bring restoration.
In this post, I want to share:
Why God’s Word speaks directly into our health
How I learned this the hard way
A simple way you can begin applying Scripture today
A Few Things to Anchor You Right Now
Before we go any further, here are a few truths you can carry with you—even if this is all you read today:
Scripture calls the body a temple, not a machine to run into the ground
God’s instruction flows from love, not control
Rest, stewardship, and care are acts of obedience
Confusion grows when we listen to every voice except God’s
Honoring God with our bodies begins with awareness, not perfection
Sometimes clarity doesn’t come from adding more—it comes from returning to what God already said.
How I Missed What Was Right in Front of Me
For a long time, I approached my health the same way I approached most areas of my life: by striving. I was trying to manage symptoms, push through fatigue, and figure things out on my own. I told myself this was just part of being responsible and faithful.
But my body had been sending signals I didn’t want to hear.
Eventually, everything caught up with me. My body broke down in a way that forced me to stop. And in that stopping, I found myself back in Scripture—not searching for productivity or quick fixes, but simply asking God for help.
That’s when something shifted.
Instead of asking, “What else should I try?” I began asking, “What has God already said?”
Instead of looking outward for answers, I started opening my Bible with new eyes—looking for God’s design, His wisdom, and His care for the body He created.
When I read 1 Corinthians 6:19–20, it felt personal.
If my body truly belongs to God… then ignoring it wasn’t faithfulness.
It was disconnection.
That realization marked the beginning of restoration—not because I found a perfect plan, but because I finally returned to the Source.
Finding God’s Health Instructions in His Word
Here’s what I’ve learned—and what we’ll be walking through together this month.
1. Believe that God cares about your body
Calling the body a temple tells us something profound: God dwells here.
What not to do: Treat your physical wellbeing as spiritually unimportant.
2. Look for biblical patterns, not quick fixes
Scripture teaches rhythms—rest, stewardship, obedience—not extremes.
Example: Sabbath shows us God values restoration, not constant output.
3. Apply Scripture before adding strategies
Before changing habits, ask how God is inviting you to glorify Him in your body.
What not to do: Stack changes without prayer or discernment.
4. Walk out obedience one step at a time
Restoration often comes through small, faithful steps—not instant transformation.
This is where peace begins to replace pressure.
One Simple Step You Can Take Today
Here’s something you can do in the next 10 minutes:
Read 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 slowly
Sit with the phrase “You are not your own”
Write one sentence finishing this thought:
“Because my body belongs to God, I will honor Him today by…”
This works because Scripture moves from truth to transformation when we apply it gently and personally.

What does it mean to you that your body is God’s temple—not something you own, but something you steward?
You’re welcome to reply, comment, or simply reflect quietly this week.

That temple vs. machine point is definitely something I need to remember more frequently.
