small into the soil, cover it, tend it, and wait. We cannot make it grow. For a time, we may not even see evidence that anything is happening beneath the surface.

Faith can feel much the same. We pray for someone we love, and faithfully serve where God has placed us. We obey when He prompts us to move forward. We spend time in His Word, pour into others, and continue doing what is good.

And then sometimes, we wait. We may wonder whether our prayers are making a difference, whether our obedience matters, or whether the seeds we’ve faithfully planted will ever bear fruit.

Scripture reminds us that we were never responsible for producing the growth.

Our calling is faithfulness. The growth belongs to God.

That truth is at the heart of Harvesting Hope, our September Monthly Scripture Journey and a 28-day study you can return to in any season.

What Does the Bible Teach About Sowing and Reaping?

Throughout Scripture, God uses the familiar imagery of seeds, soil, sowing, growth, and harvest to teach us spiritual truths.

Jesus spoke of God’s Word as seed falling on different kinds of soil. Paul reminded the church in Corinth that one person may plant and another may water, but God gives the growth. Ecclesiastes encourages us to keep sowing even though we cannot fully understand God's work.

These passages remind us of an important distinction: Faithfulness is ours. The outcome belongs to God.

Biblical hope isn’t confidence that God will eventually give us the particular outcome we’ve imagined. Our hope is rooted in the character of God Himself. We can continue planting, praying, serving, obeying, and trusting because the One who determines the harvest is faithful.

Our September Focus Scripture

Our focus for Harvesting Hope comes from Galatians 6:9:

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
Galatians 6:9 (ESV)

Those words, “in due season,” matter.

A seed doesn’t become a harvest overnight. There is planting before there is growth and growth before there is fruit. There is also a great deal that happens beneath the soil that we cannot see.

Perhaps you’re in one of those seasons now. You’ve been faithful, but you haven’t seen the fruit yet.

Maybe you’re praying for something that hasn’t changed. Perhaps you’ve taken a step of obedience without knowing where it will lead. Maybe God has given you work to do, but you’re wondering whether it's making a difference.

Harvesting Hope is for those seasons, too.

What Is the with daily Bible reading, reflection, prayer, and journaling space.

Harvesting Hope is a 28-day guided Scripture journal designed to help Christians explore biblical hope through daily Bible reading, prayer, and reflection.

Rather than collecting individual verses about hope, we’ll read passages in their biblical context and follow the imagery of planting and harvest through Scripture.

Each day includes:

A Scripture passage to read

A concise reflection question

Space to journal what God is teaching you

A gratitude prompt

Space for prayer

You don’t need special Bible journaling supplies or hours of uninterrupted time. Bring your Bible, your journal, and a willingness to spend intentional time with the Lord.

🌱 Week 1: Seeds of Hope

We begin by considering where our hope is planted.

Our hope doesn’t begin with favorable circumstances. It begins with God, His character, and the truth of His Word. We’ll read passages that remind us that God’s Word accomplishes His purposes and that our hope can remain secure because of the One in whom we’ve placed it.

Question we’ll consider:
Where am I planting my hope?

🌾 Week 2: Sowing in Faith

Then we move from what God plants within us to how we respond in faithfulness.

One of the passages we’ll spend time with is Ecclesiastes 11:1–6. I recently returned to this chapter and was struck by its picture of continuing to sow despite uncertainty.

We don’t know everything God is doing. We aren’t promised knowledge of the outcome before we obey. Yet we can faithfully sow what He has entrusted to us.

We’ll also consider fallow ground that needs tending, small beginnings, generous sowing, and the important distinction between our responsibility and God’s: We may plant and water, but God gives the growth.

Question we’ll consider:
What has God given me to faithfully sow?

🌿 Week 3: Hope in the Waiting

There is a space between planting and harvest that we sometimes wish we could skip.

Waiting.

But waiting is not necessarily wasted time. Scripture teaches us to wait with our hope fixed upon the Lord, to remain patient in difficulty, to continue in prayer, and to trust God’s character when we cannot yet see what He is doing.

This week isn’t about pretending waiting is easy. It’s about learning where to place our hope while we wait.

Question we’ll consider:
Am I placing my hope in the outcome, or in God Himself?

🌾 Week 4: The Harvest of Faithfulness

Finally, we’ll turn our attention toward fruit and harvest. This isn’t a promise that if we’re faithful enough, God will give us everything we’ve been hoping for.

Sometimes the harvest God produces is different from the one we expected. The fruit may be perseverance, greater trust, spiritual maturity, an opportunity to serve, or a life changed because of a seed we didn’t even realize we had planted.

We’ll consider the fruit of the Spirit, the work God continues within us, remaining steadfast in the work He has given us, and participating in His harvest. Then we’ll finish by looking back and recognizing His provision and faithfulness.

Question we’ll consider:
What is God growing through my faithfulness to Him?

You Don’t Have to See the Harvest to Keep Sowing

I think this is the truth I’m carrying into September:

I can faithfully tend what God has placed before me without knowing exactly what He will do with it.

That’s freeing.

I don’t have to manufacture growth or know the outcome before taking the next faithful step, and I don’t have to measure God’s work only by what I can presently see.

I can plant, water, pray, remain faithful, and trust God with the growth.

If you’re in a season of planting, waiting, or wondering what God is doing beneath the surface, I’d love for you to walk through Harvesting Hope with me. We’re beginning together this September, but you can start this 28-day journey whenever you need the reminder to keep sowing and trusting God with the growth.

Frequently Asked Questions About Harvesting Hope

What is Harvesting Hope?

Harvesting Hope is a 28-day Christian Scripture journal focused on biblical hope, faithful sowing, waiting on God, and trusting Him with the results. Each day includes Scripture and a guided reflection question.

Can I begin Harvesting Hope at any time?

Yes. Our Faithful Path Living community is walking through Harvesting Hope together during September, but the journal is designed to be used at any time. Begin with Day 1 and work through the 28 Scripture readings at your own pace.

Do I need special supplies for Scripture journaling?

No. You only need a Bible and your printed journal. You may also want a pen, highlighter, or other Bible study supplies you enjoy using.

What if I miss a day?

Simply continue where you left off. This isn’t about completing a perfect 28-day streak. The purpose is to spend meaningful time in God’s Word and allow Scripture to shape your faith.

Where can I find previous Scripture Journeys?

You can explore previous Monthly Scripture Journeys and other Bible study resources in the Faithful Path Living Resources section.

It isn’t anything elaborate. It’s simply a routine that helps me spend intentional time in God’s Word each day.

If you’re interested in using the same binder, here’s the one I use: 3-ring Binder with Clipboard

What many people don’t know is that these Scripture Journeys were born from one of the most difficult seasons of my life.

Several years ago, I was struggling with my health. During that time, the Lord continually drew me back to His Word. As I spent time studying His promises, journaling Scripture, and seeking Him in prayer, He began changing far more than my circumstances. He changed my heart, strengthened my faith, and reminded me that true hope is found in Him alone.

That journey eventually became 40 Days of Health & Healing, a Scripture journal centered on God’s promises for healing, peace, strength, and hope.

Today, each Monthly Scripture Journey grows from that same desire: to help believers build a consistent habit of reading Scripture, reflecting on God’s Word, and walking faithfully with Christ one day at a time.

If you’ve been thinking about starting a Scripture journal or simply want to spend more intentional time with the Lord, I hope this video encourages you.

And if you’d like to join me this month, we’re beginning Faithful Through Every Season, a 28-day Scripture Journey focused on trusting God’s faithfulness through every season of life. I’d love to have you walk through it alongside our Faithful Path Living community.

Have a favorite Bible journaling tool or routine? I’d love to hear about it in the comments! 🌿

Scripture Journaling FAQ’s

Do I need any special supplies to start Scripture journaling?

Not at all. All you need is a Bible, a notebook or journal, and a willingness to spend time in God’s Word.

I personally use a binder because it allows me to organize my Monthly Scripture Journeys and keep them together in one place, but any method that helps you stay consistent is a great place to start.

What binder do you use for your Scripture Journeys?

In the video, I share the binder I use to organize my printable journals. If you’re interested in using the same setup, you can find it here: 3-ring Binder with Clipboard

What is a Monthly Scripture Journey?

A Monthly Scripture Journey is a guided Bible reading and reflection journal that helps you spend intentional time in God’s Word each day. Each journey focuses on a biblical theme and includes daily Scripture, reflection questions, gratitude prompts, and space for prayer and journaling.

Why did you start creating these Scripture Journeys?

These journals grew out of my own walk with the Lord during a difficult season of declining health. As I spent time studying Scripture and writing God’s promises, He strengthened my faith and reminded me of His faithfulness.

What began as a personal practice eventually became a ministry to encourage others to build a consistent habit of spending time in God’s Word.

Where should I start if I’m new to Scripture journaling?

If you’re just beginning, I recommend joining our current study, which can always be found under Resources.

Get more from Constance in the Substack app

Available for iOS and Android

Get the app

Faithful Through Every Season: An August Scripture Journal for Christian Growth

Join the Scripture Journal from Faithful Path Living. chances to grow in faith. This August, I’m inviting our Faithful Path Living VIP members to join me for a 28-day Scripture journey as we explore God’s unchanging faithfulness through His Word. Together, we’ll spend the month reading Scripture, reflecting on His promises, and encouraging one another week by week.

Why Scripture Journaling? It lets us slow down. Instead of rushing through a Bible reading plan, it encourages us to stay in God’s Word, notice His character, and think about how He is working in our lives.

This month’s journal is called Faithful Through Every Season, reminding us of a simple but powerful truth: Our circumstances change, but God’s faithfulness stays the same.

Ecclesiastes tells us that there is “a time for every matter under heaven.” Some seasons involve waiting, while others bring unexpected change, abundant blessings, or uncertainty about the future. No matter where we find ourselves, the Lord remains constant, and His promises are true.

Throughout August, I’ll work through this journal with our VIP community. Each week we’ll focus on a different aspect of God’s faithfulness as we read Scripture, pray, and reflect together.

🌿 What You’ll Receive as a VIP Member

Your August journey includes:

Faithful Through Every Season: A Scripture Journey, a printable 28-day journal with daily Scripture, reflection questions, gratitude and prayer pages, and Bible study pages.

A Monday VIP community chat, where I’ll introduce the week’s theme, share a brief note of encouragement, and invite us to reflect as we start a new week.

A Sunday VIP reflection article, where I’ll share what God has been teaching me through that week’s Scriptures and encourage you as we continue the journey together.

Access to the growing Monthly Scripture Journeys library and other exclusive Faithful Path Living resources.

<a We want a plan. We want reassurance that if we move forward, everything will work out exactly as we hope. Whether we are facing a health challenge, making a financial decision, navigating a family situation, or simply wondering what season comes next, our natural tendency is to look ahead and ask God to show us the whole map.

Yet that is rarely how He works.

More often than not, God gives us enough light for the next step while asking us to trust Him with the rest.

As I have reflected on this over the years, I have noticed how much of my own frustration has come from wanting answers that God never promised to provide. I want clarity about the future when He is teaching me faithfulness in the present. I want to know how a situation will unfold when He is asking me to trust Him today. I want to see the destination while He continues pointing me toward the next step.

When I read Scripture, I am reminded that this pattern is not unusual. Abraham left his homeland without knowing where God would lead him. Joshua was instructed to step into the Jordan River before the waters parted. Peter climbed out of the boat while the storm still raged around him. In each case, God did not provide a detailed roadmap. He provided His presence, His promises, and enough direction to move forward in faith.

That can be uncomfortable for those of us who like plans.

As a math teacher, I see a similar struggle in my students. When they look at an entire unit, an upcoming exam, or a complicated problem, they often become overwhelmed by everything they do not yet understand. Their attention shifts from the next step to the entire journey, and discouragement quickly follows. The breakthrough usually comes when they stop focusing on everything at once and simply work through the next problem in front of them.

Life often works the same way.
<div We pray for loved ones. We wonder about our health. We seek wisdom for decisions that do not have obvious answers. We watch circumstances unfold that we cannot control. In those moments, it is tempting to believe that peace will come once we can finally see the whole path.

Yet Scripture points us in a different direction.

Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:7, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” I have read that verse many times, but lately I have been struck by the word walk. Faith is not merely something we think about or agree with. It is something we live. It shapes our choices, influences our priorities, and determines the direction of our lives. Faith becomes visible in the way we walk through ordinary days.

That means walking faithfully is often less dramatic than we imagine.

Most of the Christian life is not lived in extraordinary moments. It is lived in everyday decisions. It is choosing to spend time in God’s Word when life feels busy. It is offering forgiveness when bitterness would be easier. It is continuing to pray when answers seem delayed. It is trusting God’s goodness when circumstances feel uncertain. It is taking the next step of obedience even when we cannot see beyond it.

The longer I walk with the Lord, the more I realize that faithfulness is rarely about giant leaps. More often, it is about steady steps: a conversation, a decision, an act of obedience, a day of trusting God again. Over time, those small steps shape the direction of an entire life.

That realization became the inspiration behind this next Scripture journey. After spending time focusing on being rooted and bearing fruit, I found myself thinking about what naturally comes next. Healthy roots are important, but they are not the destination. God strengthens us so that we can live out our faith in practical ways. He teaches us, guides us, and grows us so that we can walk faithfully wherever He leads.

That is the heart behind Walking Faithfully: A Scripture Journey.

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank" stewardship over time—learning to nourish my body, prioritize sleep, reduce unnecessary burdens, spend time with the Lord, and pay attention to the patterns that either support or undermine health.

That said, there are several resources that have been genuinely helpful to me. Some have been part of my daily routine for years. Others have helped me learn, simplify, or support the rhythms that have made a difference in my life.

I’ve gathered them here in one place because I am often asked for recommendations.

As always, do your own research, pray for wisdom, and work with trusted healthcare professionals when appropriate. What has helped me may not be the right fit for everyone.

🌿 If You’re Just Getting Started

If I were starting over today, I would focus on these five things first:

Daily time in Scripture

Prioritizing sleep

Eating more whole foods

Spending time outdoors

Creating one healthy rhythm you can sustain

The resources below simply support those rhythms.

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” — Psalm 90:12

🌿 Why These Resources Matter

While no single book, supplement, or product transformed my health, the combination of healthier rhythms has changed my life in meaningful ways.

Today I no longer take the three daily allergy medications I once depended on for over fifteen years. I no longer need IBS medication. I’ve reduced other medications, think more clearly, sleep better, and have far more energy than I did just a few years ago.

These resources helped support that journey.

🌿 Foundational Reading

Before I recommend any health-related books, I need to start with the resources that have influenced me the most.

The greatest changes in my life did not begin with a supplement, a diet, or a wellness protocol. They began when I returned to spending consistent time in God’s Word.

Over the years, these have become my most-used and most-loved resources.

📖 Chronological Bible

Reading through the Bible chronologically has helped me understand the larger story of Scripture in a way I never had before. Seeing how events, kings, prophets, psalms, and historical accounts fit together has deepened my understanding and strengthened my faith. I highly recommend the NKJV Chronological Study Bible.

📖 KJV Study Bible

My KJV Study Bible is one of the most valuable tools I own. The study notes, cross-references, maps, and historical background have helped me slow down and understand Scripture more deeply rather than simply reading through passages quickly.

📖 The Biblio Diet

If I had to identify one resource that significantly influenced the way I think about food and health, it would be The Biblio Diet.

This book encouraged me to think differently about nourishment, inflammation, food quality, and the relationship between faith and stewardship. While I don’t agree with every author on every topic, it challenged me to ask better questions and begin paying closer attention to what I was putting into my body.

🌿 Scripture Journaling

One of the most important rhythms in my life has very little to do with food.

Nearly every morning begins with Scripture.

Long before I started thinking differently about organic foods, herbal teas, or immune support, I was learning that true health involves far more than the physical body.

My Scripture journals help me slow down, focus on God’s Word, and begin the day with the right perspective.

🌿 7-Day Scripture Reset - included in all subscription email

🌿 Monthly Scripture Journals - included with paid subscription

Subscribe now

🌿 Food & Pantry Staples

Several years ago, I began paying much closer attention to food quality. One of the biggest changes for our family was gradually transitioning toward more organic foods whenever possible.

This wasn’t an overnight transformation. It happened one decision at a time, one product at a time, and often one grocery trip at a time. Over the years, I’ve become increasingly convinced that food quality matters, and I’ve noticed significant improvements in my own health since making this shift.

🌿 Azure Standard

Many of our pantry staples now come from Azure Standard. I appreciate their commitment to organic foods, bulk purchasing options, and access to ingredients that can sometimes be difficult to find locally.

Whether I’m ordering grains, pantry staples, herbs, or ingredients for homemade products, Azure Standard has become one of my favorite resources.

☕ RYZE Mushroom Coffee

Another product that has become part of my daily rhythm is RYZE Mushroom Coffee.

As I shared in my article on rest and sleep, I have become much more intentional about caffeine consumption over the years. While I still enjoy coffee, I appreciate that RYZE contains less caffeine than traditional coffee while incorporating functional mushrooms that support focus and overall wellness.

For me, it has become one small way of supporting better energy throughout the day without relying as heavily on caffeine.

Like many things I share here, it isn’t a miracle product. It’s simply one tool that fits into a larger pattern of stewardship and intentional living.

Here is the Affiliate Link, and using CONSTANCEHADLEY15 will give you 15% off.

🌿 Daily Health Support

These are a few supplements and products that have become regular parts of my routine.

Again, these are not recommendations for everyone. They are simply products I personally use and have found helpful.

🌿 Thorne Basic Nutrients

🌿 Vitamin D

🌿 Magnesium

🌿 Fatty Acid Supplement

🌿 Turmeric

🌿 Sleep & Recovery

If there is one area I underestimated for years, it was sleep. Which Magnesium is also helpful with.

But no supplement can fully compensate for poor sleep.

One of the most significant improvements I experienced came from consistently using my sleep apnea machine and treating sleep as a form of stewardship rather than an inconvenience.

I have also found red light therapy to be a helpful addition to my overall recovery routine. This is the brand I use:

🌿 Red Light Therapy

🌿 A Final Thought

Health journeys are deeply personal, and what works for one person may not work for another. My hope is not that you copy everything I do, but that these resources encourage you to become more intentional in caring for the body and life God has entrusted to you.

If there’s a resource you love that has made a difference in your own journey, I’d love to hear about it in the comments.

If you’ve read much of The Faithful Path, you’ve probably noticed that I rarely talk about quick fixes. That’s intentional. The older I get, the more convinced I become that health is built through small rhythms practiced consistently over time.

These resources have supported that journey, but they are not the foundation. The foundation is still the same: time with the Lord, wisdom, faithfulness, rest, nourishment. And a willingness to take the next faithful step.

I hope this list is helpful to you as you continue your own journey.

🌿 Affiliate Disclosure: Some of the links are affiliate links. question:

“What are you producing?”

What are you accomplishing?

What are you building?

What progress are you making?

What results can you show?

We tend to measure growth by what we can see: more progress, more results, more evidence that something is changing. But roots grow underground.

But God often works differently.

As someone who spends my days teaching math, I think about patterns often. We learn to recognize outcomes by watching what repeatedly happens before them. There is usually a process underneath the answer.

Faith often works the same way. Fruit rarely appears overnight. Growth usually begins where we cannot see it.

Roots first, then growth, then fruit.

I think many of us become discouraged because we look at our lives and only focus on what is visible right now. We wonder why we don’t feel more patient. Why peace seems difficult. Why joy feels harder in some seasons. Why we still struggle with things we thought we had already overcome.

Meanwhile God may be quietly working beneath the surface. Strengthening roots. Teaching dependence. Growing something that has not yet fully appeared.

Jesus said:

“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him bears much fruit...” (John 15:5)

I have been thinking about that verse a lot. Jesus did not say to strive harder. He did not say to force fruit to appear. He said to remain. To stay connected and to abide.

That feels especially meaningful heading into June.

Summer often arrives with good intentions. We tell ourselves we will finally create better routines, spend more time in Scripture, improve our health, slow down, organize our homes, spend more intentional time with family, or finally begin habits we have been postponing.

Join The Faithful Path Community - A place to return to Scripture, reflection, and steady growth.

Then life happens: schedules shift, distractions show up, days become full. Before long, we realize we have been moving a lot but maybe not remaining very much.

So this month, I wanted to approach things differently. Rather than focusing on doing more, I wanted to focus on staying connected to the Source.

That is one reason I continue returning to Scripture journaling. It creates space to slow down, sit with God's Word, and notice what He may be doing beneath the surface long before we can see visible fruit. That is what inspired this month’s Scripture journal: Rooted & Bearing Fruit: A Scripture Journey.

Throughout June we will focus on:

🌿 Abiding in Christ
🌿 Quiet growth beneath the surface
🌿 The Fruit of the Spirit
🌿 Living faithfully in everyday life

Not with pressure. Not with perfection. Just one step at a time.

One Scripture. One prayer. One reflection. One day at a time.

Because healthy roots eventually produce healthy fruit. Maybe not overnight and maybe not in the ways we expect, but in God’s timing.

And maybe that quiet work beneath the surface is more important than we realize.

🌿 June: Rooted & Bearing Fruit — A Scripture Journey

“Stay rooted in Christ. The days stretch a little longer. The air shifts. Gardens begin to fill. Seeds are pressed into the soil with quiet expectation.

And yet, not everything is visible.

Some growth is already showing.
Some is just beginning beneath the surface.
Some still looks like nothing at all.

But that doesn’t mean nothing is happening.

🌱 When We’re Tempted to Wait

It’s easy to think we need the right conditions before we begin.

More time. More energy. More clarity.

Scripture speaks directly into that hesitation in Ecclesiastes 11:4-6 (ESV):

He who observes the wind will not sow,
and he who regards the clouds will not reap.

As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb[a] of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.

In the morning sow your seed, and at evening withhold not your hand, for you do not know which will prosper, this or that, or whether both alike will be good.

If we wait for everything to feel certain, we may never plant at all.

There is a call here to move forward in faith. To plant what God has placed in our hands, and to trust Him with what grows—and what doesn’t.

🌿 Growth Doesn’t Come from Striving

At the same time, we are reminded in John 15:5 that growth is not something we produce on our own.

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. (ESV)

We don’t force fruit, and we don’t manufacture transformation. We remain connected.

This is the tension we often live in:

We are called to sow

But God is the one who brings the increase

And somewhere in that space, faith is formed.

🌸 What This Month Will Hold

This May, we are stepping into a more intentional rhythm. Not one built on pressure or performance, but one rooted in truth.

Together, we will walk through what it means to be:

Rooted — established in Him, not easily shaken
Growing — even when we cannot yet see it
Refined — shaped through seasons that stretch us
Bearing Fruit — not by striving, but by abiding

This is not about doing more. It is about staying connected to the One who is already at work.

<picture></picture>

<g></g><polyline points="15 3 21 3 21 9"></polyline><polyline points="9 21 3 21 3 15"></polyline><line x1="21" x2="14" y1="3" y2="10"></line><line x1="3" x2="10" y1="21" y2="14"></line>

🌱 A Personal Note

As both a teacher and a gardener, this season always speaks to me.

In the classroom, May can feel like a long stretch toward the finish line.
